Our Academy

The Academy opened in September 2006 and moved into our award-winning building at Harrow Road, W2 in September 2007. We are a non-selective academy for students aged 11-19. Our Sixth Form offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Mission: Education is Success

As an International Business and Enterprise Academy, we have an innovative approach towards preparing our students for the 21st Century. The Academy has more than quadrupled exam results since it opened, from 17% of students achieving five or more A*-C grades at GCSE including English and maths in 2007, to 70% of students now achieving these grades.

Throughout Westminster Academy we promote international understanding through education:

through our pedagogy, promoting and opening opportunities for educational excellence by providing a balanced curriculum and by facilitating concurrency of learning

• by introducing students to skills appropriate to independent research from Year 7 onwards

• by recognising the fundamental, integrative role of the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the habits of mind that it should inculcate in students in all year groups

• by realising the potential of creativity, action, service (CAS) in complementing academic pursuits in the personal development of students. Through Rotary, Duke of Edinburgh and CAS within the International Baccalaureate

  • The elimination of unlawful discrimination
  • The advance of equality of opportunity
  • Fostering good relations

We will be publishing further information and our objectives shortly.
